DEVOTIONAL: Let The World See Jesus In You

Every believer of God must live according to what Jesus Christ did as a proof of being true to him. As how much the Heavenly Father so please in  him because of his obedience, we also must walk like him.

So, Jesus Christ is the perfect example of how to live holy, pleasing and acceptable to the Father in heaven. His obedience has shown to us that even until He died at the cross. He fully surrendered and sacrificed his life to the Father for the forgiveness of our sins. His crucifixion was done once and for all and not to be done again by a mere human like us for it doesn’t make sense at all. A sinner being crucified for the forgiveness of all sins? No, for it is done, we were all forgiven through Christ. Since we are now having this freedom, we must walk like Christ Jesus. And this is our part to do, we have to live a life away from the old-self and must be fully committed and completely surrendered to God no matter where it takes with our new-self (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Keys to start our lives with this freedom;

·         Believe in Christ Jesus

·         Surrender your life to Christ Jesus

·         Obey Christ Jesus

1 John 2 New International Version

2 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

3 We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. 4 Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. 5 But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: 6 Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.

The following are the characteristics that Jesus Christ our Lord has as he was in this world;

Humility, compassion, love, and forgiveness, he lived with holiness, righteousness, and steadfastness. He is also described as a servant leader who was patient, kind, and merciful, demonstrating submission to God's will and showing immense courage in his actions. His life was defined by a deep devotion to his heavenly Father and his willingness to serve others, even at great personal cost. 

Core character traits

  • Humility and Servanthood: He served others, even washing his disciples' feet, and was submissive to his parents and God's will. ( John 13:1-17)( Luke 2:41-52)
  • Love and Compassion: He demonstrated a deep love for others, showing compassion and mercy to everyone, regardless of their status. (Romans 5:8)
  • Forgiveness: Jesus is characterized by his forgiving nature, famously praying for his executioners while on the cross. (Luke 23:34)
  • Holiness and Righteousness: He lived a pure and righteous life without sin, and his actions were always in accordance with God's will. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Actions and leadership

  • Servant Leadership: His leadership style was centered on serving others, which he exemplified through his actions. (Matthew 20:28)
  • Courage and Endurance: He faced immense hardship and rejection with courage, perseverance, and an unwavering hope.
  • Purity and Truth: He consistently acted without compromise and was truthful and honest in all his dealings. 

Relationships and attitude

  • Friendship: He called his followers "friends," reflecting his desire for close relationships with them. (John 15:15)
  • Hope and Peace: Despite opposition, he radiated hope and offered peace and rest to those who were weary. (John16:33)
  • Prayerfulness: He was a man of prayer, consistently communing with his Father. 

 

Does all these characteristics of Christ is in our lives?

DEVOTIONAL: IMPORTANCE OF REPENTANCE

Repentance is important because it allows for forgiveness, spiritual growth, and a renewed relationship with our Heavenly Father. It is an act of turning away from sin and walk toward a path of a healthy spiritual life  which leads to freedom from guilt, healing, and a fresh start. It is often seen as a prerequisite for spiritual progress and salvation. It is also an  act of feeling remorse for all the past wrongdoing. Knowing also that in every mistake that we are going to commit in this present and in the future has a consequences(including the past). So it is called to repent and not to repeat.
