DEVOTIONAL: The Assurance of our Faith in Christ

We all need a secured future; for ourselves and for our loved ones but sad reality, the one that we usually working for is a temporary and has no eternal assurance. Why not start to working and focusing for the eternal one, it is free and it is for everyone.

 John 10:28-30 New International Version

28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.” 

This is the assurance of our faith in Christ, having the confidence that once we believed and accept him personally as our Lord and savior then we are saved and have eternal life. And this is based on the objective truth of God's promises and the work of Jesus Christ, not on subjective feelings or personal performance. This assurance is found in God's character, the promises in Scripture like "whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16), and the indwelling Holy Spirit, who is described as a guarantee of salvation.

God's promises: Salvation is assured for those who believe, based on promises such as "Whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved" (Acts 2:21).

Christ's work: Assurance is rooted in the finished work of Christ on the cross, which provides complete forgiveness for sins at the moment of conversion.

The Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is a seal and guarantee of salvation, and He helps believers to have a confident conviction that they are children of God.

 

It is based on…

Objective truth: Assurance is based on the infallible Word of God and His promises, not on feelings, good works, or spiritual performance.

Divine work: It is a gift from God, based on His grace and the sacrifice of Jesus, not human merit. Because salvation is God's work, as believers we received an eternal security in Christ alone and can't lose our salvation, even if we are still struggling to fight against sin. For we have the discerning power of the Holy Spirit who empower us to see and feel whether we are doing the will of God or not which is called conviction. And it will help us to conquer the power of sin by repentance. To repent means not to repeat the wrong doings that you have done before the Holy God.

But having the assurance of being saved by Jesus Christ doesn’t mean that we are safe to wait for his second coming. Being saved is the beginning of our journey as part of Christ mission, to find the lost souls and bring them back to him and for them also to have the gift of God that you first received which is called salvation.

Therefore, a person who truly repents from sin will have the desire to love others unconditionally and to work for the Lord by sharing the love of God. It is a divine transformation for a certain person who truly has Jesus Christ in their hearts(2 Corinthians 5:17). Have faith in God and have faith in Christ Jesus.

DEVOTIONAL: IMPORTANCE OF REPENTANCE

Repentance is important because it allows for forgiveness, spiritual growth, and a renewed relationship with our Heavenly Father. It is an act of turning away from sin and walk toward a path of a healthy spiritual life  which leads to freedom from guilt, healing, and a fresh start. It is often seen as a prerequisite for spiritual progress and salvation. It is also an  act of feeling remorse for all the past wrongdoing. Knowing also that in every mistake that we are going to commit in this present and in the future has a consequences(including the past). So it is called to repent and not to repeat.
